Hope Hui Hui Mothersbaugh (h-ope w-ay w-ay mothers-baw) is a Los Angeles-based illustrator and graphic designer with a strong focus on color, light, and cinematic storytelling. Her work is driven by emotion, using composition, texture, and atmosphere to create imagery that feels immersive and alive.

Raised in LA, she studied at the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts before earning a BFA in Illustration with a minor in Entrepreneurship from Pratt Institute in New York City. She graduated in 2024 as a recipient of the Pratt Circle Award for highest honors.

Hui Hui’s visual language is rooted in vibrant palettes, strategic lighting, and thoughtful design. She thrives in collaborative environments and enjoys working alongside creative teams to bring imaginative worlds to life. With a sharp eye for color styling and mood, her long-term goal is to work in animation, contributing to projects where emotion and visual storytelling intersect.

 

In 2020, she founded a custom pet portrait business, combining entrepreneurship with her love of character and personality-driven art.

Outside of the studio, she finds inspiration in time with family and friends, exploring new hobbies, discovering new foods, and observing the small, colorful details of everyday life.
